Mark Dimock

Mark is a full-time painter/sculptor who has been based in Eketahuna since 1980 where he has established a large studio workshop and gallery.

Experimentation is an important aspect of his work and he often uses recycled materials in both his paintings and sculpture. Mark works with oil on canvas, newspaper, resin, acrylics, timber and steel. By using techniques such as weaving, timber construction, the use of mirrors, inlays, overlays and carving he adds a three-dimensional experience to his works too. Mark’s current works incorporate steel or aluminium, timber and paint. Together they explore the crossover between the different mediums.

Since his first exhibition in Whangarei in 1975 he has held more than 25 solo exhibitions in galleries throughout New Zealand, and has been involved in more than 60 group shows both nationally and internationally.
