Natalie Knight

Natalie rediscovered painting five years ago after taking time off to raise her family. Since then she has held a couple of successful solo exhibitions and had her work exhibited in a number of group exhibitions. Natalie has been represented by the Mangawhai Gallery.

The wider Mangawhai region has been inspirational for Natalie. It is the home of a number of endangered native birds, primarily the New Zealand Fairy Tern, and Natalie’s efforts working with the local ranger have endeared her to the cause, and to the bird that features in many of her paintings. “The concept of flight continues to fascinate me. My current focus is now on the concept of inner flight. The birds I choose to paint have strong spiritual reference which lends my work additional depth.”

In 2011 Natalie won the Royal Easter Show New Artist Award. The judges noted: “We believe Natalie will be of feature of future art circles". She replies with a smile “And here I am..."
