Nicola Ov (nee Nicola Scott)
Nicola attended the Elam School of Fine Arts and, like her Cambodian-born husband Kheang, she gained a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in printmaking. She also gained her post graduate teaching diploma and, in 2001, began teaching art. Nicola’s interest is in exploring and experimenting with patterns, colours and images that reflecting New Zealand, English, Scottish and Asian imagery.
Nicola was born in England and she grew up in New Zealand. Together Nicola and Kheang bring a fascinating heritage into their art and into their family life. “My husband is Cambodian Chinese and our daughter will grow up in an environment of different cultures. The patterns, colours, layers and images reflect identity but also references a cross pollination of ideas and symbols.”
