Daryl Purdie
Daryl been drawing since he was a child and he has never felt inclined to stop what comes naturally to him. His has always been art in very graphic/cartoon style. He enjoys painting on solid wood because it is bumpy, heavy, scratched & tactile. “I use house paint, spray paint, marker pens. Anything I can find.”
Daryl signs his works as ‘ugh’, something he has done since he was an enthusiastic 15-year-old teenager. “It was something to scrawl over my books during a dull social studies class. I now scrawl it over my notes during dull work meetings.”
Featured Artist
Sandra Dick
Sandra lives in Warkworth where she is an emerging copper artist, and mother of three children. She had occasionally dabbled in acrylic painting for her own pleasure for several years before shifting her focus to working with copper almost three years ago. A self-taught artist, Sandra especially enjoys the unpredictable nature of working with copper to create wall-hung works for both indoor and outdoor display. At present Sandra’s work predominantly reflects local and native flora. This perfectly suits her technique of using heat to produce a variety of hues. Sandra has been invited to exhibit at a number of high-profile art exhibitions and her work has been very well received.
