Diana Smallfield

Diana is both a practicing artist and a Visual Art Educator. She is currently the National Secondary Schools Coordinator for the Arts and Upper North Island facilitator for Visual Art. She also exhibits regularly throughout the Auckland region.

Diana’s recent work is about identity, and how it feels to be part of a unique place, Aotearoa, New Zealand. This series of works explores the issue of ownership, loyalty, national integrity and our ability as a country to determine our own future.

The use of the photographic image interfaced with multi-layered digital imagery and acrylic paint enable her to connect different meanings and allow individual narratives to be told.
