Robianto

Robianto’s environment was influenced by his Spanish Father and Indonesian Mother. He started painting
at 16 and, in his early 20's encouraged by his Australian wife his painting career was firmly established.
Dot Art was originally recognised as unique and integral to Australian Aboriginal art.

On the surface the dot is simply a style of Aboriginal painting, like the use of cross-hatching or stencil art. The term ‘Dot Painting’
stems from what the Western eye sees when faced with contemporary Aboriginal acrylic paintings which
arose from the Papunya art movement from Western Australia in the 1970s.

Robianto has developed his own style of contemporary Dot Art painting. His latest “Kiwi” Dot Art Collection
builds a trans Tasman bridge blending an ancient Aboriginal technique of painting into a collection of
uniquely New Zealand contemporary images.

His unique style of "Dot Painting" introduces a subtle texture to any room. The understated colour
combinations combine with almost any type of decor be it traditional or contemporary. Most of his paintings
can be hung either horizontally or vertically.
