Aimee MacMillan

After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Canterbury, Aimee moved to Auckland to take up a career in secondary art education. Both her photographic and graphite-

based artworks address what she calls the ‘tracing of memory’ - the concept of nostalgia, that sense of belonging and cementing one’s self in the lineage of history.

Her drawings often depict ideas of family and ceremony - past, present and future - through tokens of inheritance, heirloom curiosities, and ‘glory box’ daydreams. Aimee has been involved in a number of Auckland school exhibitions over the past two years. This is her second showing at the Northcote College’s Affair of the Heart event.

Eve Borley

Much of Eve’s inspiration comes from the bush surrounding her Murrays Bay Auckland home and studio where she produces her acrylic and mixed media art works.

Eve’s art began as a hobby, developing into a full-time passion some seven years ago. “I love it. It is my happy place and I’m never short of inspiration.”

More recently Eve has extended her repertoire from acrylics to multi-media works with acrylic. She especially enjoys the tactile experience of working with a variety of materials to create what she describes as the “story telling part” of an artwork that unfolds layer by layer until she is happy with the resulting sense of depth and texture. Eve’s work recently earned her an award at the Jan 2013 Great Summer Art Sale. Over the past four years she has sold more than 180 works to buyers throughout New Zealand, Australia, California and Dubai. Her work is showcased in galleries and in exhibitions throughout New Zealand.
