Deanna Hulme

Deanna had had a lifetime working as a PA/secretary in the corporate sector by the time she discovered a passion for painting. That was back in 2000 when she attended several Get Creative workshops run by Rutherford College in Te Atatu. In turn, that led to various other part-time visual arts programmes in painting and mixed-media run by the college, and her subsequent participation in a number of exhibitions. Deanna’s interests lie mainly in landscape and seascape scenes for which she experiments with textured gels, acrylic and other mixed-media for abstract effect. She also enjoys life drawing and figurative work, which she translates into her abstract interpretations. Deanne received a third prize placing for her abstract work at the Royal Easter Show art awards in April 2010.

Featured Artist

Annette Pearton

In 2004 Annette decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an artist. After a period at Mairangi Arts Centre she joined a class tutored by professional artist Belinda Wilson whose guidance and tutelage she still appreciates to this day.

Annette paints in acrylics which suits her love of detail and rich colours. She describes her style as representational whether the artwork is a landscape, still life or a figure.

Annette also belongs to an Auckland artists’ collective known as the Campbell Group which held its first exhibition in June 2012.

She has exhibited at the Mairangi Arts Centre, the Lake House Arts Centre, the Emerging Art Show and at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
