Trish Northey

Trish’s interest in what she calls “atmospheric abstract landscape” began during her years at the Elam School of Fine Arts.

At first she was drawn to the movement of air and clouds passing over land masses. Her closer observations of cloud formations led her to books on meteorology and, in turn, a deeper interest in the unseen aspects of cloud formation including evaporation, air movement and precipitation. Trish’s work combines all that she observes in nature including the reflections of light and changing weather patterns and her interpretation of the science behind it all.

Her larger acrylic works are on un-stretched linen with strips of linen sewn on prior to painting to create another layer of interest.
